Jim (1950 – ) and Marg (McClure) Glenn (1948 – )

Jim and Marg Glenn created the multi-faceted Glen Isle Farms Ltd. in Keene, Ontario. They were a two-time Master Breeder Holstein herd before dispersing in 1988. Along with cash cropping, business diversification at Glen Isle includes custom work, trucking, snow plowing, exporting hay and straw, Pioneer Seed dealership, and wood shaving supplier. The Glenn family was named Peterborough County Farm Family of the Year in 2006.

Jim graduated from Kemptville Agricultural School, where he was College Royal President and Student of the Year. He has been a leader with Peterborough County Junior Farmers, Peterborough Agricultural Society, Milk Committee, Holstein Club, Soil and Crop Improvement Association, Peterborough District Co-op, Federation of Agriculture, and Ontario Hay Association. Jim is a Lang Pioneer Village Museum’s Advisory Board member and chaired the Agriculture Heritage Building Committee. Marg graduated from the University of Western Ontario and worked as a Dietitian. She was involved with 4-H, Junior Farmers, Ontario Agriculture Training Institute, District Health Council, United Way, North Shore Public School, North Shore Women’s Institute, and Keene Pumpkin Festival. Both are active members of the Keene United Church. Marg is a United Church Women’s Life Member. Peterborough County, Lions Club International, the Chamber of Commerce, and the University of Guelph have recognized their volunteerism. 

In 1986, Jim and Marg won Ontario Outstanding Young Farmer (OYF). They were active in the Ontario and Canadian boards and received the Motherwell Award, recognizing their dedication to agriculture and OYF program.  

The Glenns hosted the 2006 International Plowing Match, which saw 85,000 attend the five-day event. Jim has won Pioneer Seeds Awards, including Leader of Distinction. In 2020, Jim was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
