Marg and Wayne Telford are committed to agricultural excellence and community service. They have advanced agricultural practices and established industry benchmarks through innovation, leadership, and dedication.
Wayne is the fourth generation to farm in Selwyn Township. Wayne and Marg first farmed with his father and brother at DonWay Farm. They now operate MiWay Farm with their son. Their farm operation includes cow-calf, stockers, finished cattle, and growing corn, beans, grain, and hay. They raised three children and have six grandchildren.
Wayne has been a Peterborough Cattlemen’s Association Director for over 40 years and was President from 1992 to 1993. For 43 years, Wayne, with Marg’s support, has chaired and coordinated Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes Cattlemen’s Stocker Sales. Annual sales have increased from 300 to 6,500 cattle, enhancing market access and prices for local producers.
Wayne was Ontario Cattleman of the Year in 1993. They won the 2013 Peterborough County Agriculture Leadership Award. In 2024, Wayne and Marg received the inaugural Long-Standing Commitment to Peterborough County Cattlemen Award.
